Coach's comments: "This was a fine first outing for a team chock full of newcomers to the program (and five of the eleven players who saw action today are ninth graders). We played Williston's varsity squad and it was encouraging that the Choate athletes were not intimidated by their older and more experienced opposition. We still have lots of work to do this season, however. There are teams on our schedule that are more capable than the one we faced today and we have a few bad habits to erase before we are ready to take them on. But at this juncture, the outlook for the season is quite promising."

Coach's Comments: "Today is always a fun day for the team, as we add a handful of thirds players to our roster and then split our enlarged group into two--more or less down the middle--in order to take on two different Founders League JV teams: Avon and Loomis Chaffee. Both matches were on the road this year, and the members of the Blue squad returned to campus first, happily with a solid win to their credit. We competed well against the Winged Beavers. Four of our boys saw their first interscholastic action today and split their matches, while the "veterans" (most of them with only one competitive match under their belts!) dispatched their opponents pretty handily. Noteworthy performances were put in by Max Stenbeck--who won the first two games, lost the third 0-9, and was down 3-7 in the fourth before rallying to win the last six points of the match--and double-duty man Bradley Sammis, who rebounded from a loss at #7 to post his first-ever win for Choate at #9."

Coach's Comments: "The Gold half of the squad fared less well than the Blue group today in that they lost more matches than they won. But since the point of this divided team arrangement is to procure more competitive matches for our players--instead of worrying about the JV team record--the Loomis match was successful in that it produced some hotly contested match-ups and gave our newcomers some very valuable match play experience. Six of the Wild Boars played their first matches against the Pelicans today. We're fortunate to have so many young and eager players in the ranks this year."
